Alpha’s Report February 2013
Brothers,
Greetings from the Psi actives! My name is Gabi Rosenbrien, and I am the 2013 Alpha of Psi of Chi Phi. It gives me great pleasure to report the state of our chapter. For the first time since the 2010 reestablishment, the Briarfield has achieved 100% occupancy with 37 brothers living in the house. Among these brothers is our newly elected executive board:
Beta Matt Forrest (917) 667-6552 matthew.forrest@chiphilehigh.org
Gamma Doug Bajan (914)-374-8313 douglas.bajan@chiphilehigh.org
Delta Max Schoen (973) 303-0441 max.schoen@chiphilehigh.org
Epsilon Jay Fraser (720) 335-4121 jay.fraser@chiphilehigh.org
Zeta Mark Dipsey (973) 420-6935 mark.dipsey@chiphilehigh.org
Eta Brett Ricci (610) 945-5060 michael.ricci@chiphilehigh.org
Feel free to reach out to any of us.
As we near the end of spring recruitment, we have begun to carefully select candidates to join our brotherhood. We anticipate the strongest pledge-class yet, with over half of the total freshman rushes showing interest in Chi Phi. We invite you to join us for their initiation weekend, Feb. 22-24.
If you do find yourself in the area, please ask for a tour of the house. Current projects include basement improvements, acquiring curtains for the first floor windows, and filling empty walls with Psi Chapter memorabilia. With the assistance of the National Archives we recovered numerous original photographs, documents and composites dating back to the 1800s. They will be displayed to remind visitors, guests and brothers of our rooted history at Lehigh.
Be on the lookout for Matt Chiaverini’s most recent project as Alumni Relations Chair: an active resume book. In an effort to provide brothers with the best job opportunities, Brother Chiaverini will be reaching out to alumni for relevant openings and internships. He is also planning an Alumni barbecue for the weekend of April 12th. More information to follow.
John Schultz is leading our community service in the right direction with big plans for the semester. Opportunities for brothers include after-school tutoring at local elementary schools (and preparing snack bags), blood drives, Adopt-a-Highway, and helping Habitat for Humanity build their 100th house in the Lehigh Valley. As we are still in the fundraising stages, please contact matthew.chiaverini@chiphilehigh.org if you are interested in contributing.
January 2013 brought with it an air of excitement, as morale is higher than ever and Chi Phi’s in-house alcoholic probation has been lifted. (A correlation between the two is still under investigation.) The transition has been a smooth one, and we look forward to sharing our excitement with you. Please know you are welcome to visit at any time; the hand of brotherhood is always extended. On behalf of the Psi actives, I would like to thank you for your continued support. If it wasn’t for the generosity of our alumni, Chi Phi wouldn’t be as successful as we are today.
Cheers,
Gabi Rosenbrien
