Hail Brothers,

I am excited to announce that I have the privilege to serve as the president of the Psi Chapter for this coming year. I hope to build upon the positive foundation that our previous alpha, Maxwell Rodenborn, has left behind for me. This foundation includes a more positive and open relationship with our alumni association, Briarfield. I hope to continue this active communication in order to develop a deeper and mutually beneficial relationship between the Briarfield and the Psi Chapter. The chapter aims to cement this relationship further through continued events at the house next semester similar to the alumni event we held in honor of our longstanding and beloved Kenneth Sinclair’s retirement as the Psi chapter academic advisor.

Coming very far from our poor accreditation rating two years ago, I believe the Psi Chapter is in a much better place in regards to general internal management and organization. We have increased the transparency of executive board operations and will continue to engage general members and build leadership qualities in our men.

Our Chapter has seen incredible internal developments that have increased brotherhood engagement and set the standard for brothers to think independently and become leaders not only within the fraternity, but in the general community as a whole. By opening up more active communication between the Psi Chapter’s executive board and its general members, the chapter as a whole has become more of a cohesive unit. We have also utilized ideas put forth by Briarfield’s Alan Abels in his “How to run a chapter like a business” presentation. This presentation stressed the involvement of general members in a fraternity that utilizes their own resources. These efforts have resulted in a cumulative rise in general brotherhood engagement which we hope we can continue to build upon in the coming year.

This past two semesters our chapter has excelled in both risk and facilities management, in fact for the entirety of the year our chapter had no major conduct or facilities violations. This is not only a much needed improvement from past years but puts the chapter in a very good starting position for the year to come. We hope to keep both these areas and practices strong in the future. By managing and keeping these violations to a minimum, the brotherhood will be able to spend more time creating a positive influence on the community.

To conclude, I am honored to have been selected as the Psi chapter president for this coming year. Working together with the new executive board, I hope to continue improvements we made over the last two semesters and continue to grow the Psi chapter with a successful recruitment period and encouragement of brotherhood engagement. I also hope to continue to keep in contact with alumni in order to create a strong and united network of Chi Phi.

Sincerely,

Conor Leahy
